Как доказала практика, конструктивная надежность данных компонентов обуславливает высокую практичность работоспособности всевозможной бытовой техники. В процессе ремонтных работ, которые все же случаются, возникает необходимость тестирования того или иного компонента на предмет его исправности. Например, как проверить полевой транзистор, который выпаяли из неисправного блока, вышедшего из строя аппарата. Самый простой метод проверки с применением стрелочного тестера. У исправного транзистора между всеми его выводами прибор показывает бесконечное сопротивление, кроме современных, имеющих диод между стоком и истоком, который и ведет себя, как обычный диод. Второй способ проверки с применение современного цифрового мультиметра. Черный щуп, являющийся отрицательным, прикладываем к выводу стока транзистора. Красный щуп, являющийся положительным, прикладываем к выводу истока. Мультиметр показывает прямое падение напряжения на внутреннем диоде около 450мВ, в обратном -- бесконечное сопротивление. В данный момент транзистор закрыт. Что мы делаем далее. Не снимая черного щупа, прикладываем красный к затвору, и вновь возвращаем на вывод истока. Мультиметр показывает 280мВ, т.е. он открылся прикосновением. Теперь, если прикоснуться затвора черным щупом, не отпуская красного щупа и вернуть его на вывод стока, то полевой транзистор закроется, и прибор снова покажет падение напряжения на диоде. Диагностика произведена, в результате чего мы убедились в исправности тестируемого транзистора. Для образца мы применили N-канальный полевой транзистор. Чтобы проверить исправность P-канального транзистора, необходимо, всего лишь, поменять местами щупы мультиметра.

#52: Tutorial / Basics of a Dip Meter

This video presents the basics of a Solid State Dip Meter, which is the more "modern" equivalent of the old classic Grid Dip Meter (GDO). The GDO was simply a vacuum tube based oscillator with a meter that read grid current as a measure of the oscillation strength/magnitude. The solid state dip meter uses a solid state RF oscillator and detector circuit to perform the same function. The Dip Meter (or Dipper) I show in the video is a Heathkit HD-1250 that I built as a kid in 1976 or '77. The dipper is mainly used to determine or measure the resonant frequency of a circuit, antenna, 1/4 wave transmission line, crystal, filter, etc. You couple the dipper's exposed coil to your "device" under test, and adjust the frequency of the dipper until a drop or dip in noticed in the meter. Once the dip is found, the frequency is read off of the dial. The theory of operation is that the signal from the oscillator is injected into the circuit/device under test. Then the frequency produced by the dipper hits the resonant frequency of the DUT, the strength of the oscillation will decrease due to the resonant load. There are a lot of applications for this: determining the resonant frequency of a circuit, or an antenna, of a crystal or filter, etc. Also, using known capacitors or inductors, you can use the dipper to help measure the values of unknown inductors or capacitors. You can determine 1/4-wavelength transmission lines and other resonant RF structures like traps. The meter can also be used as a RF signal source for testing receivers, etc. By turning the oscillation level in the dipper to the point where is just goes away, the dipper can then be used as an absorptive wavemeter - or a frequency selective field strength meter. The "Dipper" is a very flexible and versatile instrument, that has been around for decades, but isn't seen that often anymore unfortunately.

www.PartSim.com - This segment will demonstrate some of the features of the PartSim Circuit Simulator, such as drawing a simple RC circuit, as well as assimilating that circuit, using PartSim. Read more.. ·Drawing a Simple Circuit First, click and drag an AC Voltage Source from the Sources tab into the schematic area. Then click and drag a resistor, capacitor and one more resistor from the Passives tab. You can rotate components by selecting them with a click and pressing the "R" key. You can select multiple components by dragging a box around them and then pressing "R'. Align the RC components in series. Complete the circuit by dragging a GND symbol from the Port tab. You can copy and paste the GND symbol. To wire your circuit, simply click on a component pin and then click on the other component pin to be connected. While moving the cursor, you can click anywhere to fix the segment of the wire. You can adjust R1 by double-clicking its value and typing a new value. Alternately, you can double-click the component and adjust its value in a dialog box. You can also adjust C1's value in a similar manner. Finally, you can change the Voltage Source's parameters by double-clicking on the source and editing its values in the dialog box. Because we're only enabling the AC and the DC voltage sources, leave the Transient Source set to "None." ·Running a DC Bias Analysis The first SPICE analysis to be demonstrated is the DC Bias Analysis Click the "Run" button to open the Run Dialog box. Select DC Bias and hit "Run." The resulting DC values for each node will be displayed on the schematic. The DC voltage comes from Source V1. Adjust V1's DC value by double clicking V1 to open its dialog box and change the DC value from 1V to 2V, for example. Rerun the simulation and see the results change as expected. Although this is a simple circuit example, the DC Bias Analysis clearly shows the capacitor blocking the DC level of the source leaving 0V at R2. If you deselect DC Bias and click "Run," you will remove the DC results from the schematic. ·Running an AC Analysis To run an AC Analysis, return to the "Run" dialog, select AC Analysis and choose the AC Response tab. Set the Start Frequency to 1 kHz and the Stop Frequency to 20 kHz. Hit the Run button. To view the simulation output, go to the AC Analysis Tab at the top. The plot should show three nets: the input, mid, and output nets with their original net names. If you hover over a net in a schematic, you can see the current net name for that net. Double click on the net to display its name. You can change the net name directly to more useful ones like "vin", "vmid" and "vout". Rerunning the simulation will now show the plots with your new net names. To view only specific nets of interest, simply select the Probe tab and click on nets "vmid" and "vout" for example. Rerun the simulation and you will see only your selected nets. The plot of the input "vin", which doesn't change across the frequency range, is no longer visible.

Then he plays this very short audio clip back feeding the stored digital data into an 8-bit D/A converter and then into an audio amplifier and speaker.

Dream of the Moor

Dream of the Moor was composed in 1998, one of my earlier works. The video is made up entirely of paintings by the French painter Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824 -- 1904). You can see his complete works at: http://www.jeanleongerome.org Unfortunately, high resolution digital images of Gérôme's works are difficult to find. Low resolution images abound, but are not suitable for video production. Some of the paintings I wanted to include I simply couldn't find in a high resolution format, consequently they are omitted. Additionally, many of the high resolution images I did find show all the surface blemishes that are present on the original canvases, or else on the photograph made from the canvas that was scanned to create the digital image. Considering that all of Gérôme's paintings are now well over a century old, it's not surprising that they're showing a lot of wear and tear. However, no-one appears to have done much digital restoration on any of these images. I have done a little, but a complete job would be a daunting task, and represents more time and effort than I want to invest. Consequently, the smaller the window in which the video is viewed, the better will be the image quality. Catch 22... Messing around with color balance, hue, intensity, contrast and lightness are best left to someone who possesses a PhD in optics and art restoration, as well as having access to the original paintings. I have none of those things, but I'm still able to recognize that people don't have green skin, so if any original image I found on the Internet looked OBVIOUSLY awful, I used Photoshop to bring it at least within the bounds of "plausibly realistic". Gérôme's entire catalog is of course much larger than represented here. I selected those paintings I felt conveyed the spirit/intention/story behind the musical work. P.S. - I discovered one painting in my slide show that is NOT a Gérôme. Also, I found two other medium resolution paintings that I think should be included, so watch for an updated version coming soon (actually, I doubt anyone will notice ;-)

Sputnik TX nach DL3JIN erster Versuch mit 3,579MHZ Quarz

Da sich der 21,060MHz Quarz nicht zum Schwingen überreden ließ, habe ich hier einen Versuch mit einem 3,579MHz Quarz gemacht. Auch dieser schwingt nicht auf Anhieb, dazu waren noch zwei 20pF Kondensatoren direkt am Quarz nötig. Damit konnten dann die ersten Versuche mit dem Sputnik TX beginnen. Achtung: Die Schaltung im Original von DL3JIN kann so nicht für den Betrieb auf 80m verwendet werden dazu müsste noch der Gitter1 Kondensator(180p) deutlich erhöht werden. Aber für einen ersten Trockenversuch reicht es. Es zeigt sich aber auch das nicht jede Röhre und jeder Quarz auf Anhieb funktionieren(rein rechnerisch gesehen). Manche Röhre hat scheinbar nicht genug Eigenkapazität um ohne "Anschwinghilfen"(20-30pF) zu Schwingen. Ich untersuche die Sache weiter vielleicht gelingt es ja den 21,060 Quarz auch noch zum Schwingen zu überreden!
