The Chicago Manual of Style (abbreviated in writing as CMS or CMOS [the version used on its website], or, by some speakers as Chicago) is a style guide for American English published since 1906 by the University of Chicago Press. Its sixteen editions have prescribed writing and citation styles widely used in publishing. It is "one of the most widely used and respected style guides in the United States". Hanging Indentation for MLA, APA, and CMS | Citation | The Nature of Writing
When you format your sources in your Works Cited, References page, or Bibliography, you may have to use hanging indentation. Watch this quick tutorial to find out for each entry you can indent every line after the first. This tutorial is for MS Word, but you can apply these same principles to Google Docs, Pages, etc. The easiest way to create hanging indentation in MS Word is to highlight your text and then press Ctrl + T. Another way to do this is to use the paragraph menu (under Home). Then go to "Special" and select hanging indentation.
