Creating RESTful Web Services the Easy Way with Node.js

44:03
Dan Mcghan, Oracle Drivers make it easy to connect to and run statements against a database. That means they’re perfect for creating RESTful APIs, right? Well, you’ll want to add some pagination capabilities, maybe sorting controls, and what about some generic filtering options too? You could do all that with the driver and some smart code, but isn’t there an easier way? Of course there is! In this session, attendees will learn about some of the challenges associated with manual API creation using drivers. Once those are understood, the presentation explores several tools that offer similar functionality out of the box, including Loopback, Sails, and ORDS.

REST Enabling the Oracle Database

01:04:42
Presenter: Colm Divilly, Oracle Corporation This session will demonstrate how quickly one can install and configure Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) to provide/serve REST endpoints on both RESTful Services and Database Objects themselves. A brief overview of REST concepts will be followed by a demo of ORDS being installed in less than 5 minutes. Then a series of demos showing how easy it is to REST enable a table and use GET/POST/DELETE to provide a full CRUD API to your data, including complex scenarios involving complex data types like SDO_GEOMETRY and rich web applications that can take advantage of JSON. REST is the new development paradigm and the Oracle Database is 100% ready with the addition of ORDS.

The ADF Mobile Persistence Sample is a JDeveloper extension that contains generic, reusable code that significantly speeds up and eases the implementation of local on-device persistence in the SQLite database as well as remote data synchronization. In addition, a wizard is provided to generate a default crud-style mobile user interface. This video demonstrates how to generate a fully functional ADF Mobile application that reads and writes data using an ADF BC SOAP web service. All data retrieved through web service calls is stored locally on the device in the SQLite database, allowing you to use the application in offline mode. The video also demonstrates the data synchronization functionality that is provided to process transactions made in offline mode.
