I Will Not Let An Exam Result Decide My Fate - Suli Breaks,Vanity Fair,2009
"I Will Not Let An Exam Result Decide My Fate" picks up on the education topic but takes a different stance and angle from "Why I Hate School But Love Education". This poem talks about how we have been made to think about how education and getting university degrees can give us opportunities to have a better chance in making our dream careers a reality. It also touches on how as individuals we are judged and tested by how well we perform on exams, but not all people perform well in exams so why are they made out to feel like they're dumb? The inconsistencies of the education system are really peeled open to reveal a deep problem that needs to be addressed and how society's needs have changed to make this even more apparent.
When it boils down to it, why are we misled into thinking that education is the only way forward for successful means in our work and career lives? We need to open our minds and educate ourselves that exam results aren't the barometer of success and that we can't let them decide our fate. We are in charge of our own destinies!

In the U.S. there is such a thing as Opt Out of State testing. I recommend joining one in your state, I found mine through Facebook. Unfortunately I don't know the law's in the United Kingdom regarding testing. The problem with testing is it's a way to collect data that can later be used against you.
An my major problem is that so many kids grow up through school and learn next to nothing but ways to get a j.o.b. and sign up for college. They don;t know how to interpret media, how to process felings how to develop healthy long-term habits nor how to make healthy funtional connections with the people around them They go through 18 years of their lives stressing out about simple tasks portrayed as all-determining and all-important instead of being inspired and given a medium through which to interpret and accomplish those tasks.
Many school systems are innovative and actually take into account the psycology of effective learning and success while many schools in forgotten area pour out generations of unmotivated pessemistic attitudes while the few who happen to work well in the system ask why everyone's so down.
I’m going to be judged so badly if I get bad exam results :( not everyone is perfect and people need to understand that! I will not give up if I get bad grades. I’m not letting an exam result take over my life.
I totally agree with this song. 100% but, I can see that even if you may never need to use or know History, but, there is nothing wrong with knowing. If you refuse the knowledge that your offered, I think its a bit of a stupid stuborn mistake. Personally I stink secondry school teens should be taught how to "adult". Things like taxes... You get thrust into the adult world and need to rely on your parents to teach them. The school system is flawed basiclly
Teaching one subject teaches conformity it teaches you to line up and fit the cookie cutter mold society wants you to fill yet one size does not fit all I would rather have a jack of all trades master of none than be lead to a place of configurability because conformity kills individuality
THAT IS THE MOST STUPIDEST VIDEO BY FAR. I had to stop that BULLSHIT, 40 seconds in.
The video is trumpeting the willingness to be ignorant ... of not knowing how things work. It sends the wrong message to children.
A bunch of goddamn rebellious idiots, protesting EDUCATION ... KNOWLEDGE ... LEARNING!? It attempts to justify not learning and studying ... and, it attempts to make their parents feel bad about forcing them to get an education.
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT ALL ABOUT....
Always strive for knowledge. Learn as much as you can about history, science, math, humanities, life.
KNOWLEDGE IS EMPOWERMENT:
The process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights.
I have ADD and this is a bad video, obviously these people dont know what the fuck they are talking about. If i get worse grades because of my ADD then so be it! THAT is life, not everything is fair, i have to try much harder than others but that is my choice if i want same grades. if i get compensation for ADD then i will be set with a job i cant do, women shouldnt either get lower physical requirements. EITHER YOU WORK HARD LIKE I DO OR FAIL THAT IS YOUR CHOICE. LIFE ISNT FAIR NEITHER SHOULD IT BE BECAUSE THAT IS HOW IT FUCKING WORKS YOU WEAKLINGS.
I chose this video because my entire life I have let exams determined who I was. I have always been a bad test taker. I will spend hours studying materials needed for an exam, then the day of the exam would approach and my palms would get sweaty and boom .... I freeze. The main points of this video is that an exam should determine the type of person you are.. Two quotes that stood out to me were " Why does he have to study subjects he would never have to use in his life" and "You know to get a good job job you need a good degree and these subjects will help you get a good degree". These quotes are important to me because I was always told that I had to go to school in order to get a good job. Now fast forward 10 years later , and Im currently in my Masters program because in my head I can get a better paying job but Correction officer do have the school i did and they get paid about $100,000 a year.
We need to change our education system. School should deliver knowledge in an on-demand, need to know basis instead of memorizing facts and terms for the exam. Lets take Donald Trump for an example. Donald Trump approach knowledge as a tool to get things down and not for being valuable for its own sake. He makes certain what he needs to know to be successful at the time he needs to know it. A radio host interviewed Donald Trump if he can name all militant group in the Middle East. His respond was, "I will know them when its appropiate. I will know more about it than you know, and believe me, it won't take me long". Professor Roger Schank from Yale University adopt Donald Trump learning approach in his teaching courses. We live in the 21st century where society is rapidly growing and advancing in work place, technology, etc. If you want to get things done in a fast moving environment, you need to learn fast and know the right information. You can't predict what the future holds, but you can learn quickly to keep up with the current market trend. If you are not constantly learning, you are falling behind while everything else is passing by. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, 6 million unfilled jobs is a growing “skills mismatch” that has left many workers unprepared for rapid technological change. As many years to come by, you really to learn fast as you can and keep up with the rapid pace of the economic growth.
I have to disagree. I agree with everything. I am 102 and I wish I could do this. We need good grades. Because trump doesnt have an education and I want to make sure that doesnt happen again. When I went to school for the first time, back in 1922, we had to drink this strange liquid that turned us into donkeys, it was messes up. By the next day i had turned back into a human boy but not b/c of that Pinocchio guy, he left me on that island, I had to figure that shit out by myself. Now that I really think about it, that might have been from a movie i can't really remember, none the less I hated the video go speak at funeral, your own funeral b/c you killed yourself, yeah mic drop spoken word y'all.
Say whatever you want but education is very important, if you disagree think about anti-vaccine movement, flat earth movement, even your president said that global warming is a lie, and what about those who claim that Holocaust didn't happen I can continue on and on
My perants told me I need to do better at school.then I said I'm good at basic English Welsh math and science.i know a how to work a map I know who Martin Luther is I know about Jesus.and they said u only know the basics and not everything.then I asked a simple math question i asked a simple Welsh question I asked a simple math question i asked a simple science question they didn't know the answer to any of them.then they told me well I didn't learn that in school.and I'm like we'll if u didn't learn it and are doing fine in this world then why do i need to learn it.ome day I failed my math test.and my dad got angry.si when I got home I wrote all the questions down on a piece of paper and told my dad to answer them. He ended up getting a lower score then i did.its the Easter holidays know and i have already forgot everything I learnt.so if i dont renember it know what makes teachers think I will renember it in 5 years.
Isn't it always funny how these SILLY RAPPERS always *blame their lack of learning on teachers, society and everyone else but themselves* for not opening, studying and learning a lesson. *They never talk about how THEY teased, bullied and humiliated students* that CHOSE to learn. Now that they see all the "nothingness" that their *cool cloths, pouting faces, hostile demeanor* has yielded, they stirs their SAD faces into the camera and STILL BLAME EVERYONE ELSE! Oh yeah, they all have 4 or 5 kids by 3 or 4 different mothers too!
Honestly how disgusting of you to call me stupid, tell me I assault people and basically calling me uneducated. Where’s your manners? All I did is post the quote the guy used in his video, which is really true for me, at least.
Say what you want to say to me but I’ll not change my mind. Yes, there are things we take in school that we actually use in life. But tests are just testing us of how good our memory can take short-memory information. You do not know me the least to tell me “If you had chose to study”. For your information, I am currently studying. And I hope I’m going to do something great with my future because I know really damn well the things I’m good at.
Say what you want to say to me but don’t you dare call someone stupid and tell them who they are. Which may turn out the complete opposite. Instead of guessing they’re name in society, ask them. I don’t want to call you uneducated because I don’t know you. But you clearly seem uneducated in your manners. Learn some. It’ll help with your “survival”.
( Plus I’m really bad at hairstyles, that’s something that you apparently thought I did. )
Stupid! Survival I guess, if for learned people to be able to drive to work or go shopping without being assaulted by ones like you. If you had chose to study instead of fashionable hair styling, you would have learned survival! You're using technology to post your silly remarks...technology that was LEARNED!!!
Hmmm, that's why they couldn't or *"wouldn't"* learn anything, they did the same thing through school! *Never opened a book, disruptive in class* and now they have plenty of time to do what they do best...just stand there!
Worst part of school was being forced and coerced into sitting in small, crowded rooms of teenagers who’d sooner kill and maim each other than learn anything. Did you know US public schools are built with similar layouts and alarms as prisons? Because they ARE prisons.
There is great (imagined) strength in collective stupidity; Find your peers, blend in, feel better about yourselves......Own it, yo.
And you can stand over there owning it, while the vast majority of the rest of the world (if they notice you for even a moment) will regard you as stupid, with good reason.
Ask me how I know.
So true! It's everyone's fault but their own. Notice he didn't talk about all the days he cut class, got high, disrupted classes and bullied others. No, he was a model student in class and the teachers ignored him because he was black.
My mental health has been terrible lately and didn’t help that I had exams. I couldn’t make it to my last exam. I listened to this and remembered that I can re do courses and try and try until I can have my dream job as an English teacher
I agree with the message but not with the way it said. Because my brother took this video to seriously. He wants to go to college but doesn’t have good grades he doesn’t care for test because he watched this video. He doesn’t want to work . He just sits at home . Because of this video .
I have studied to be a teacher for years. And quite frankly Suli when I find myself struggling with my job I come back to this video and remember why I do the job that I do. I love the children who struggle. I love the children who “can’t behave” and I love the children who exceed. I love MY children learning.
Read. Learn about the Swedish way of teaching. Learn about the way maths is taught in Singapore. Ask yourself why we might struggle in this country?! I failed my teaching course because of Singapore maths and I excelled in early years because I can engage wtb the individual. One way get results one way makes a change.
I definitely understand where this is coming from. Because I was in regular classes and I also took special education classes, but the point being is that they try to say that everyone should learn everything at the same pace, which is impossible. Cause as for myself I struggle in reading, I couldn't remember most details after reading long passages. But if you put me in a math class I could tell you the answer without working out the problem, and in science I was nearly untouchable. And for the most part, just about everyone that earns all these degrees turn out to not be that successful anyway, so all that add pressure is a waste of time
I tried to appease my parents throughout the school life, I succeeded, but I let me & my life get messed up. Now, apparently doing nothing but thinking about the mistakes I've done for listening to others instead of myself.
Because he was an angel, Castiel initially expressed almost no emotion towards humans, and had little room for disobedience or feelings, as he was driven to follow his orders, although he does reveal some doubts about the morality of his orders, expressing an appreciation for the beauty of humans as Gods creations. As he spends more time with Dean, he develops empathy and affection for him, and eventually for those close to him, and humans in general. Castiels superiors begin to question his loyalty and promote Uriel to oversee him. Castiel eventually rebels against and is ostracised from heaven, leaving him deprived of most of his angelic abilities, forcing him to interact more with humans than he had previously. He is often confused by the finer details of human interaction and is blind to social norms. He allies himself with Dean, and despite his despondency over the absence of his maker and their desperate situation, Castiel continues to fight against the Apocalypse.
After his second resurrection by God, with enhanced abilities, he sees his decisions and support of freewill to have been affirmed. Castiel begins to show pride, while remaining somewhat naive with regard to consequences. Crowley is able manipulate this budding sense of pride to get Castiel to start the angelic civil war. Castiel becomes dedicated to his own decisions, and tends to pass over other opinions, even Deans, in the absence of another clear course. He eventually double-crosses Crowley, taking in the souls of Purgatory alone. He then insists on worship from his former friends. He intends to be an involved god, a better and loving god who will not abandon the world. He renounces his dedication to free will, saying that angels need a firm hand. He is quick to smite those he feels to be hypocritical and unjust, and rewards those who have faith. However, Castiel is being influenced by entities inside him - including leviathans - and his actions become erratic and violent. He realizes he is not strong enough to contain the power, and at a prompt from Sam, he goes to the brothers for help. He is apologetic and humbled; after the souls are out of him he wants to find a way to redeem himself before the brothers. He eventually takes Sams madness on himself, freeing Sam.
In episode 5.14 My Bloody Valentine, Castiel shows his deep affection towards raw meat, eating it in the room and unable to get to famine, one of the four horsemen. Here, we realize that Castiels vessel, Jimmy Novak is desiring the food which he cannot gain access to with the angel possessing him.
Castiels insanity after taking on Sams memories of Hell seems to free him of some of his guilt, though it leaves his mind scattered. He was unwilling to fight due to his belief that he is a "jinx," though Dean convinces him to help kill Dick Roman. He also expresses some fondness for Meg despite the previous animosity that existed between them. However, after getting trapped in Purgatory, Castiel seemed to have regained his sanity, though he admitted there is no way to know for sure. However, his experiences have changed his personality somewhat and he is no longer as aloof as he usually is and has displayed a fondness for human things he took for granted such as watching television, which he never understood before.
