Cocaine: Narcos, Sicarios and Peru (Part 1)

13948 ratings | 2117060 views
Pablo Escobar was the mastermind of drug trafficking and narco terrorism in Colombia during the 1980s. He transformed the city of Medellin into the cocaine capital of the world, and pioneered a model that almost every major criminal organization would later adopt. Countries around the globe are still grappling with the aftermath of Escobar's reign 20 years after his death, from the hired killers he trained as his army of underage hitmen to the remote cocaine labs and clandestine air strips in the jungles of Peru helping feed the world's hunger for coke. In part one of our three-part documentary, we meet two DEA agents who spent years on the trail of the elusive king of cocaine and became the basis for Netflix's show, Narcos. Yet another argument to just stop this war on drugs. It's misguided, foolish, backward.

Nobody was paying more than 20k for a Kilo back then... these guys are always way off on the cost of any kind of drug. Stop it with the lies man.

You can't "beat" narcotics. The government is fighting against the desire of the buyer in all the wrong ways. The drug dealers are the symptom of a deeper problem. You don't cure the problem by fighting the symptoms.

Why do I feel fondly of Escobar? He was a murderous terrorist, but at the same time, such a badass.

General Escobar did not walk out of his prison through the front door of his prison rather he escaped via a secret passage he himself had designed and built leading to the mountains.

Yep once again we get the US agency's version, keeping the homeland sheeple on-side to the great job they do gettin these guys... Truth is its all one big rigged high level game...war on drugs is a sham...it's just a nice label
Was that man they killed on the roof the real Pablo Escobar or was it his mold because Pablo used pay people who looked like him to pose as him while he would blend in the crowd.
Quique (3 months ago)
BULLSHIT! Don't insult people's intelligence. Los Pepes were funded & lead in part by the CIA if not cutouts which were directly tied to DAS. Even the name "Los Pepes" or People Persecuted by Pablo Escobar sounds like something CIA agents in Langley would come up w/. Nvm the obvious links they had w/ the Search Bloc & CNP.

Any program or documentary I watch about Pablo Escobar has Steve Murphy and Javier Pena as the main source(s) of information. It's good, but it gets monotonous at some point. I wish other documentaries would report from a different perspective.

Third comment. North America has and continues to kill countless thousands of civilians around the world with absolutely no second thought or disregard on its impact. - I think Colombia would have been a much better place with Escobar in Congress in comparison to what has happened to the country as the bend over for the small dick that is Yankieland.
Dean Ford (4 months ago)
It's quite a simple equation, legalize narcotics and funnel the proceeds into the healthcare system, Addiction is a healthcare problem, not a criminal problem. However that won't happen, war, regardless of the legality of it, regardless of the logic of it, war is just far to profitable.
Dean Ford (4 months ago)
Coca Cola can clean rust from coins ans let you let our kids drink it, imagine what that shit is doing to their brains and stomachs. If anything should be illegal, its soda and chemically modified foods. Let me sniff and smoke. My bodies nobody's body but mine.

nobody pays 90,000 or 100,000 a kilo. that would mean the kilo buyer is paying 100 a gram. thats high even for the gram buyer.
C Bo (6 months ago)
A billion dollars for 6,500 kilos of coke would mean a kilo would be going for over $150,000 a piece. Bull fucking shit.

Never going to completely beat them until you legalize most of them. That's the only way that you'll hit them where it hurts, profit.. Make it of no value to produce the stuff. Educate the population, boost economy to where everyone is working. It's ALL connected. For it to stop, or be VERY minimal, we would have to have it completely legalized for the most part to where if someone _wanted_ to, they could just go at it themselves, and then the population needs to be educated, working, and wealthy enough to where the drugs just arent worth their time. Cause the problem is, when you have a lot of people with free time, and combine that with the depression from either not working or a poor economy, and shit morals on top of that. That's how everything gets the hell out of control. You're always going to have _some_ people that do drugs simply because they _want_ to do drugs. but if we can keep that to a minimum, and have it so that _those_ people doing the drugs dont affect anybody else and don't create these huge empires, then who cares. Let a super small portion of the population get high on drugs that they've produced themselves. It's a small price to pay.

At one time in the USA, BOOZE was public enemy substance no. 1...We all know the rest. So, what now? Do we go from one South American nation after another, putting the Big Squeeze on poor countries with big money and if the country DARES say "Thanks, but no thanks", well, WATCH OUT. We need to MOOB= Mind Our Own Business.

The Cartel is nothing but a rebellion going against there corrupted horrible government. it doesn't take a genius to understand this. they they deal drugs and make cocaine, but money is money Hell USA is mostly founded off of Drug money. if you were dirt poor and had to find a way to make money you can't lie you'd do it too. All of Mexico's new big buildings and what not are paid with drug money. The cartel aren't that bad. just get the fuck out there way and let them make there money and do what they need to do. the origanl mission started in Columbia when escobar was going against the shitty government doing nothing to help there own people. Escobar was almost president he helped so much people and his country. up until the fucking American government always fucking shit up so of course they drove him mad, but he's not a bad man. he did what he had to. Just. like. every American politician. American government has killed 50 times more people than any cartel out there. They are the only people who are actually standing up against the bullshit. its what needs to happen in America. but everyone's so ignorant and blind to even understand we can do something. We can stand up if you're one of the people who see the bullshit and corruption.
