Tom Selleck's look Magnum PI should have also been included.

Marilyn vs Audrey -- This list indexes iconicity more than fashion per se, and, consciously or not, its ultimate rank order—a demure Audrey Hepburn flanked between Ursula Andress & Marilyn Monroe—accords greater weight to the figure of Venus rather than her fashion; it appeals principally thus, though not exclusively, to the het male gaze, which generally speaking is blind to fashion because its target is the (objectified) figure beneath the clothing. No challenger embodies the Venus archetype more iconically than Marilyn Monroe; while Audrey epitomizes fashionable elegance her beauty appeals overwhelmingly to women while hardly attracting the het male gaze. That said, the Cult of Marilyn is upheld today by (young) women, not men, and her appeal is not just an ultra-feline sexiness, but a knowing irony that deploys classic femininity with skill & humor while revealing, to the sympathetic eye, a vulnerability that eventually killed the flesh & blood woman tasked with rivaling the Goddess of Beauty....

I really loved Audrey Hepburn : Breakfast at Tiffany's ( 1961) she is the best friend of her close friend Stana Katic ( 39 nearly 40) I think that Audrey is the close friend of Stana Katic , I think that Ms Holly Golightly has always inspired from her closet friend Stana Katic 💖💖
Jacob Alexander (6 months ago)
I think Marilyn and Audrey did a great job individually on all their movies, it just happens to show that the people who made this don’t recognise both the woman’s talents. Perhaps a joint first place please next time
Luna Rodriguez (7 months ago)
I disagree with 90% of this list
Isaiah Freeman (7 months ago)
I can see why Marilyn got it since that image is so iconic in general but Audrey slays

Marilyn is THE icon of all icons.
Paula Tarin (1 year ago)
I honestly think Marilyn really deserves that 1st place, she was so talented, Audrey was talented as well, but Marilyn was a total icon, no matter how. She is the perfect feminine icon, and that scene fit perfectly with her persona. That's what make that scene unforgettable for ages.

Really? you think that putting someone in a Midnight Blue Tux is genies. Get a grip!!!!!!!!! you sound as far away from genies as you get.
musicaltheatergeek79 (10 months ago)
But genies are blue.

Kristen Griffin (1 year ago)
First of all Breakfast at Tiffanys should have been first. Second how is My Fair Lady not even an honorable mention!?!???????
TheBonny720 (1 year ago)
How do you NOT include any Grace Kelly or Elizabeth Taylor in this? I mean, poofy prom dresses and slip dresses are because of her.
gle tube (1 year ago)
Princess Leia's Slave gear in Return of the Jedi. Very Iconic.

Amira Gmr (1 year ago)
Great list, but Audrey's LBD is The most iconic fashion moment of all times. Come on! She made the LBD what it is today !
Sunshine smileyface (1 year ago)
As much as I love Marilyn and the Seven Year Itch, she shouldn't have been number 1. Her white dress wasn't iconic, her standing on the subway grate was. It wasn't an iconic fashion moment. It was an iconic film moment. Audrey Hepburn's LBD and Vivien Leigh's outfits in Gone with the Wind were far more iconic than Marilyn's white dress. And about James Dean in Rebel without a Cause or Grace Kelly in Rear Window or Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz?
steven s (1 year ago)
this list got it all wrong. Grease and Pretty Woman?????? You are confusing costumes with real fashion. American Gigolo deserves a spot as well.
Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction???
Jia Drisdom (1 year ago)
What about The Matrix? Those outfits were sick.
inmyoppinion2 (1 year ago)
What! Monroe over Hepburn no way.
Audrey is the best!!!
Liam Kay (1 year ago)
May I just say to everyone hating on Marilyn Monroe, her dress was sold for $5 million whiles Audrey's was sold for $1 million. I can see the diffence

Elizabeth Rose (1 year ago)
I think you should have included the tv show The Nanny
Natalie Gsgzhhs (1 year ago)
Marylin was ugly..
ddjmfan (1 year ago)
I'm glad Ursula Andress was on this list because I was named after her. My mom is a big James Bond fan and when she saw Dr. No as a teenager, she saw the name Andress and fell in love with it. She said that if she had a daughter, she would name her Andress and she did! I love the name for so many reasons. :)

Excuse me I have something to say: Marilyn & Audrey are both beautiful & classic in their own way saying bad things about Marilyn and comparing her to Audrey is just plain out rude and many people are saying things about Monroe that aren't true! Also both women were about being kind and not speaking bad about others so even though you feel that you're somehow "defending" Audrey she would most likely be disgusted by your manners! Also Marilyn & Audrey were fashionable in real life too! Marilyn & Audrey didn't pick the costumes so there is no valid point in pointing out which one was more fashionable by their costumes! Fun Fact: The writer of "Breakfast at Tiffanys" imagined Audrey Hepburns character as Monroe and was disappointed at Audrey's preformance
Yvan Giovanetti (2 years ago)
This time, the #1 was the easiest EVER to find out and... you failed! Once again! How the Hell can you have forgotten the gorgious and unforgettable Anne Hathaway in "The Devil wears Prada"? Some other great faults: -Jennifer Lawrence's fire dress in "Hunger Games"; - Romy Schneider in the role of Sissi; - Keira Knightley in "Pride and Prejudice"; - Veronica Lake, the ultimate 40s glamourous icon; - Grace Kelly in "To catch a thief"; - Diana Rigg AKA Emma Peel in the series "The Avengers"; - Uma Thurman and her yellow suit in "Kill Bill".

Marilyn Monroe over Audrey. Now get over it lol
Gabriel (2 years ago)
Marilyn over Audrey? No way, she may be more famous because she was an attention seeker, but in fashion Audrey is and will be always bigger.
Cricket C (1 year ago)
Gabriel it's about the most iconic fashion MOMENT. Marilyn's white dress scene is one of, if not the most, recognizable and recreated fashion moments of all time.
Alyssa Roupas (2 years ago)
the list is about the fashion, not the person wearing it
Cherry Cola (2 years ago)
Marilyn wasn't an attention seeker her beauty & warmth attracted attention!
E Daught (2 years ago)
Judy Garland as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz???
Jennifer Mosqueda (2 years ago)
Audrey's dress is Givenchy while Marliyn's dress looks like it came out of a flee market.
Paula Tarin (1 year ago)
Jennifer Mosqueda The dress that came out of a "flee market", is the most expensive dress ever sold in history.
Jennifer Mosqueda 💀
Cherry Cola (1 year ago)
Jennifer Mosqueda maybe you should take that up with the designer of the dress
Jennifer Mosqueda (2 years ago)
+Ida Danzig Yeah, lol i guess i'm just salty that Audrey didn't make #1. Plus i like Marilyn's pink dress in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes better.
Ida Danzig (2 years ago)
and? she still made it work.
Melissa Fechner (2 years ago)
Gossip girl should have been on the list.

Audrey Hepburn is SO much more fashionable than Monroe
samantha provido (2 years ago)
I love audrey but marilyn was poorly mistreated.. She should be treated nice.. By directors.. But they cast her as a stripper or Prostitutes because of her blonde hair, pretty face, her sexy body. She could have won academy award. But the Academy Award does not like her. No one deserves to be treated bad, they judged her look! So as you guys! She killed her self because of lonliness and cruelty.. These Directors are like my Fake Friends.. Treated me like a shit because i dont look pretty. They just tell me to scwam or tell me to Go the hell away from them after they call me when they need something.. My teachers like them. And my teachers dont like me. People need to stop being so mean and so judgemental. I hope they get consience.

Audrey's LBD was so much better than Monroe's skirt. Audrey was the definition of class. Another Top 10 article WM got wrong.

Audrey second place ??? are you kidding me ?
Anu Dada (20 days ago)
Audrey isn’t in 2nd place, that black dress is in 2nd place
Lyrical Music Central (2 years ago)
Audrey's little black dress is the epitome of iconic fashion moment
psicofukapus (2 years ago)
Lotta people pronounce her name wrong. It's Yulia Roberts. The J is silent.
Syd (2 years ago)
I think Gone with the Wind (the dress made of curtains and the red dress) and Wizard of Oz defiantly should have made the list, and even though I think Edith Head's favourite designs were for to catch a thief - what Grace wore in Rear Window was so beautiful, and what about Audrey wore at the ball in Sabrina she was stunning I think in Givenchy (or in Roman Holiday/my fair lady/ funny face), and Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge (the headpiece *swoon*), Elizabeth Taylor (in Cleopatra or the white dress at the party in 'a place in the sun') and any of Adrian's work especially on the woman (1939) the fashion parade nearly 80 years later is still beautiful [and of course Keira's green dress in Atonement]
Syd (2 years ago)
Also iconic wise think Princess Leia or Indiana Jones should have gotten an honourable mention (I mean they chose to mention flashdance ... really)
King of saigon (2 years ago)

My favourite fashion moment would definitively be Keira Knightly in Atonement - the green dress. Best piece of clothing I've ever seen.

RVAnne22 (3 years ago)
Marilyn Monroe all the way! The most iconic woman in the 20th century. ❤
samantha provido (2 years ago)
Well she really is.. But directors casts her as a Stripper and Prostitutes because she has Blonde Hair and She's Sexy. She wasn't treated well. She does not deserve to be treated like that.. Why people have to be so Mean and Judgemental.. Like my fake friends. Im not as pretty as my Fake Bestfriend.. So she treated me shit.
