I could care less! And so could the studios management about prequals or sequals as long as they are somewhat lucrative film properties as you rightly observed. I'm presuming that there are more stories that don't get the full Hollywood treatment because of fear of taking risks. THERE ARE ISSUES IN OUR WORLD that need to be addressed! Will the global convergence of information and digital communication serve everyone? Will future policymakers be committed to global long terms goals and what are the consequences? We don't need to hear the same old pessimistic ironic issues brought up again and again by dinosaur films like blade runner that were hip in genX post-Reagan era. Blade runner got a sequal (that's more like a Hollywood facelift) BIG f*&^%ing DEAL! What I mean is that dystopian films have run their course. If we want a better vision of what's to come we need films that will address them in positive or non-ironic way regardless of taste - because it's so easy to be anti something, but its twice as hard to be for something. Try it on for size... WHAT THE HELL DO YOU STAND FOR? What's AMERICA or LOVE or LOSING mean to you? WHY? In Short, We need artists who will take risks and be acknowledged by us and their fellow artists. You matter and you are a part of this whether you have appreciation for arthouse films or not! So do your world a favor and start giving a d*&^mn. I could care less! This was great. I want about 3 more hours of this. BR is my favorite film, and I thought it impossible that another film, especially a sequel, could sit next to that title...2049 does. It's almost better in some ways...yes, I said it. I'm overjoyed that this sequel was better than I could have ever imagined.

Mmh, no Roger Deakins? It’s a cathedral of a movie because of him. His enriching collaboration with the great Villeneuve is a gift that keeps on giving. But DP tend to be overlooked for their stellar achievement in filmmaking, it’s really, really sad.

I'm sick and tired of the whole "real and practical" selling speach BS -the FX reels tells a different story. The Effects are done like they allways do -a mix between practical and digital elements -there is extreme amount of digital stuff in the movie, even in surpricing, unexpected places.

I had my serious doubts about this film. I was (and still am) in the camp that thinks it should never have been made. BUT... I took a deep breath and watched it a couple days ago. I have to say that it's the only film from 2017 that was any good. It's a great film. Is it 'better' than the original? No. And even if that was quantifiable, the answer would always be no. And we all know why. I'm telling you right here and now that although I'm a Gosling h8er, I'm going to buy the Blu-ray. I really hope Denis realizes that now that it's in the world, like all great art, he doesn't own it anymore and release the 4 hour version.

I was wondering if anyone could tell what human colonists need Replicant soldiers and 'attack ships' and all this war materiel for Off World. What or who are they fighting? Other humans? Aliens? There are Replicant rebellions mentioned in both movies but not, it seems to me, enough to need 'attack ships' and 'kick murder squads' and the like. In the book, Off World is in our solar system and pretty sedate but these movies have brought in something that is not explained!

The Lady that is narrating, i hope that coat she is wearing is fake fur. Vice is left wing but a little "on the edge" so maybe she is a big leftie but she is "bad" too with the real fur thing! Could start a disingenuous bs trolling campaign with that one! Great film, great behind the scenes. I wish this movie made more money because Hollywood has learnt that this is apparently to cerebral for the masses.

I LOVE this movie. Thoughts on Sean Young's re-creation: Perhaps in the future they will re-master Jar Jar Binks so that he looks like he did in the Phantom Menace. I thought of Rogue One when I saw this in the cinema. The VFX artists had more work to do with Peter Cushing, a man that had been dead for over 20 years. That being said there was still something slightly wrong with the digital work, it was 95% there, very commendable. Peter Cushing was 90% there. Give it another 10 years and you'll not know the difference. Have a look at what they did with Kurt Russel in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I think they approached that in a different way with some sort of combo of real life, practical effects and some digital smoothing. Perhaps Sean Young was going to ask a boat load of cash to be involved and they chose to follow the bean counters on a cost vs the value of the emotion in the scene. It was a fleeting moment, maybe what was done was good enough given the sky high budget of the production minus Sean Young who was one of the iconic moments of the first.

Kim Taylor Bennett became my favorite entertainment reporter/interviewer with this video. She has a natural, authentic feel, and she's very easy to look at. I loved it when she snapped, "Goddammit, Harrison, why not?" Totally charming.

Is Dekard a replicant? Well... consider this... ages old... When I was in the service, and flipped some individual... you could "send a thief, to catch a thief". As the saying goes. Because only thieves know how thieves behave. The only individual one can send in heavy, is one trained heavy. When you go in heavy - you cannot afford mistakes. It just looks bad on the record. So no he is not a replicant? But yes he is. Every building site has a foreman. He's BEEN there... before.
